Do you have a good playoff system instead of the BCS?

Here is mine and what do you think. Take the 4 champions from the BCS confrence, they get homefield advantage for their first game Add 4 Wild Card teams(Hand picked by members of all 3 polls, yes I stole that from the NCAA basketball style) The second round is played at whoever won by more points in the first round game teams field Championship game played at a neutral site.

  1. My system so EVERYONE get's a shot: There are 12 conferences in the NCAA. So the 12 conference champions should be automatically in the playoffs. Then to make it an even bracket, there should be 4 wildcard teams that are the 4 highest BCS ranked teams that weren't conference champions. So the final total would be 16 teams. 8 game 1st round, 4 game 2nd round, 2 game semi-final, and 1 game national championship. The BCS points system could still be used as the way to rank them and the match ups would go as follows: 1st play off games (8 games): 1) 1 vs 12 2) 2 vs 11 3) 3 vs 10 4) 4 vs 9 5) 5 vs 8 6) 6 vs 7 7) wild card #1 vs wild card #3 8) wild card #2 vs wild card #4 2nd round Playoff (4 games): 1) [1 vs 12] vs [wildcard #2 vs #4] 2) [2 vs 11] vs [wildcard #1 vs #3] 3) [3 vs 10] vs [6 vs 7] 4) [4 vs 9] vs [5 vs 8] Semi-Final Playoff Games (2 games): 1) {[1 vs 12] vs [wildcard #2 vs #4]} vs {[4 vs 9] vs [5 vs 8]} 2) {[2 vs 11] vs [wlidcard #1 vs #3]} vs {[3 vs 10] vs [6 vs 7]} Final: Semi-Final Game 1 winner VS Semi-Final Game 2 winner The bowls could still sponsor each playoff game and there could still be big money going to all the conferences. Let alone ticket sales, etc.
  2. this is a early model and definately not my dream one. But they should have the top 8 bcs teams in a tournament, and every game should be a bowl game. That way the bowls still make their money
  3. I think its a good idea maybe Hawaii because BCS Champions.
  4. the bowl system is not about the top 2 teams. the system is based on revenue, what brings in more money, year in and year out, we always talk about what conference is the best, sec, big 10, big 12, big east etc. get away from those preset connotations, start rankings after the first week (preseason ranking is a joke) and go from there!
  5. i think it would just wear out teams more with some teams already playing in 14 games(including bowls) it would just make teams more tired
  6. Do you seriously think there are only 4 BCS conferences??...Big East, Big 10, Big 12, SEC, ACC, PAC- 10....Last time I did the math thats 6 . Nevertheless I would not like to see anything more than a 2 round 4 team playoff. This though should only be allowed if all conferences play a conference championship game. No longer should Ohio State be allowed to finish their season 2 weeks before everyone else and sneak into the BCS.
  7. The winners of all the major BCS Confrences are guaranteed an automatic spot in the playoff, and the other ten teams are selected by what their final ranking is, and other factors like strength of schedule. If would, obviously, have 16 teams. Any team in the top 25 would be eligible, but you would need to have at least 8 wins on the season to play. Every team in the top 10 would make it, its just that every team outside the top 10 in the top 25 would not be guaranteed a spot. The 16 teams would be split into 4 different divisions, Rose division, Orange division, Sugar division, and Fiesta division. The Big Ten and Pac 10 champs would each be 1 and 2 (seeds would be determined by strength of schedule, wins/losses, etc.) in the Rose division, the SEC Champs would be the top seed in the Sugar division, the ACC champs would be the top seed in the Orange division, and the Big 12 champs would be the top seed in the Fiesta division. The Big East Champs would fill the #2 (or possibly #1 if they had a better record) in a division that would rotate every year. The first game would be played at the higher seeds stadium. Win your first game, and you move onto the final 8 teams. The final two teams left in each of the 4 divisions will play for the Bowl of that particular division. For example, LSU and Texas are the final two teams in the Sugar division, they would play in the Sugar Bowl for a chance to go to the Final Four. This way, each of the 4 BCS Bowls could stay. The Final Four would be at the site of the National Championship game (could be rotating every year like now, or could be at an NFL Stadium or something else neutral). This way, it plays out like a playoff system, yet you still have the 4 Major BCS Bowls involved and a similar system to today's.
