  1. don't worry mate, I'm 16 and unfit and play basketball. Basketball isn't as physically demanding as some other sports. you could always try walking a lap around something long every night, i myself take a walk around our local oval every night and it keeps my in a fair condition. Dieting is also a good idea (which i should do myself =P) make sure you eat plenty of healthy stuff. I'm not an expert on nutrition so i can't help you with that lol. if you do stuff like that you should be all right in no time.
  2. im 16 and also play basketball....proper exercise and diet will get you properly fit for basketball....basketball practice is a good excercise just practice the basics, running, jumping, shooting, and be knowledgeable about the game
  3. Dont worry about the teams fitness. I mean still work out with the team but go to the weight room on your own sometimes. You can ask your mom or dad to take you to a gym and you can just work on your game and get fit at the same time. Get on the treadmill and lift some weights trust me its gonna me easy once you get used to it. But the bad thing is you will be really sore for like 2 days but stick to the Fitness!!!
  4. If your high school has a weightlifting room, you and your team could try that out. Don't go there more than like twice a week though if you're just starting! Also I'm a girl and 13...I played on a travel team and we did an hour of conditioning for each practice. Take jump ropes. Jump rope for about 5 minutes.... without stopping...build up your calves. Then if you have bleachers those help a lot. Run up and down 3 times then stop and each player should shoot 1. If he'she misses...the whole team goes up 3 times. If he/she makes you go up once. This teaches you to make your free throws, but also tests your physical and mental toughness. You can do suicides (you start at one end of the court. Run to free throw line and back then run to half court and back then other free throw line and back then full court and back) and have to be back in like a certain time...they our team had to do a suicide in 30 seconds. If you dont make the time you run 3 laps. Also this one is GREAT , but painful! You and your team lay down on the court. You do what you call the BIG 10! You do 10 push ups, 10 sit ups, and 10 seconds of 6- inches....6 inches are when you lay flat on your back and lift your legs just 6 inches off the floor....they really work ur abs!!! Then you go down to nine and do nine push ups, nine sit ups, and nine secs on 6-inches, then 8 push ups, 8 situps, and 8 secs of 6 -inches, and so on... HOPE I HELPED YOU OUT! Best of luck!
  5. i'm 14 and their is some girls on my team that isn't fit to play. but they jut keep tryin. thats what you need to do!never give up! you need proper exersise, just get out and do basketball, cause that can help you! GOOD LUCK
  6. u gotta lift weights and practice often and hard. that should get u into shape.
  7. I am a A player for my school in the under 14s. A couple of years a go I was, sad to say, fat and unfit. But I exercised over three times a week by playing basketball, because I was playing basketball for my school. From the Ds I went to the As. I also improved a bit on my diet. So esstinally you have to play basketball for fun, improve you game-which is important and once is a while eat something good!
