college basketball?

Y do players who are good enough to play division 1, play division 2 or 3 instead. This is something i could never understand. I know sometime players have bad grades so they choose d2 or d3. but other then dat y settle for it. p.s. do u have to be really good to make a d1 team even if its a team thats not good ? Thankyou

1. Some guys are at smaller schools, or unknown programs and do not get recuited D1. For some other guys D2 or D3 is a better fit. Even still guys will do it for more playing time.
2. The guys are mostly borderline. They could be a big star and get lots of playing time in D2 or D3. In D1, they would have to ride the bench and compete with more talented players.
