- Yeah bulk up. I'm 5' 6" 17 years old and am Point guard on my team. If i were taller then I would just bulk up. so I have no personal experience.
- be nice to siniors and juniors and put salt in your shoes
- keep trying your hardest i'm 17 and i'm heading to nba and i'm a great dunker i'm 6'7 wear a size 15 shoe and i also do track it would help if you keep jumping and tryng to reach the top oth rim.
- it's always a good thim to do afew sit-ups and pus-ups, that is all I do, and i am stronger than the guys at my school who really work out, with weight benches and all
- I know that lifting will stunt your growth and thow your shot off. Wait till off season for sure if you deside to do it.. Good luck with your hope and dreams
- Yes u'll get taller u don't stop growing until 18
- I think you should not get too heavy on the weights. You may grow more, but you may not grow more than a couple of inches, 6'5 or 6'6, which would make you a guard or forward in the nba. If that is your goal, you should invest time in your face up skills, ball handling and explosiveness. You will bulk up naturally as you get older.
- It's good that you want to take it slow on the working out, but there's nothing wrong with hitting the weights a little bit. All you need to remember is that you're not a football player and you don't need to be huge and be in the weight room all the time. Try lifting maybe twice a week and see how you feel about it after a couple months.
- you shouldnt work out until atleast 17. chances are youll have another growth spurt soon and if you are working out during this you could damage your muscles.
- You need to be able to compare your skills with other athletes. This will be the year for you to go to some showcases. Hopefully you will play some summer AAU or MAYB tournaments. Check out the www.ncaa.org website for showcases you might be interested in. Do not bulk up yet. You are probably still growing and you don't want to put undue stress on your bones. Your high school coach will start you in weightlifting- usually in the summer break-...make sure you are doing resistance excersizes because you will need to be fast at your height and weight. Better than weightlifting would be an athletic training program like "Frappier Acceleration Sports TrainingWork". Check it out on the web and find a location near you. Focus on you ball handling skills as you may be needed more as a shooting guard. You may start choosing showcases at colleges you'd like to attend so they can start putting you on their recruiting lists. And, if you have any good games taped then send a few of those out to colleges you'd like to attend and include a profile about you. In your profile list all the teams, coaches, awards, etc...anything impressive, include grades if they are good. If you can get on a team that goes to AAU Nationals you will be surprised at the College recruits that will be there. Good luck. Added: Ok, you have got to work on your left handed dribble. We have a kid 6'7 at our school and he is going to AZ State next year. He is probably around 200lbs at the most...he won't get to play the big posts, those guys are big at the D1 level. If you play smaller school you may get to play post. The reason our 6'7 player is recruited is because he was a point guard all his life and he recently had a growth spurt. He can dribble, pull up the jumpers, and hit the threes. One area in which you may have an advantage is defense. Can you play defense. Focus on becoming a complete player.
- I would think that if you r going to bulk up a ton it would probaly slow you down a little. So i would concider it if you wanted to play on the block but if you wanted to be a fast quick gard I wouldent try to get too big.But working out is always good no matter what postion you play
