Basketball

Basketball?

On January 20 im suppose to register for a basketball camp its a 8-10 week season I can play. Im 5'3. I can really pass the ball. Good defender. Good shooter. My only problem is my dribbling skills I have to improve on that more especially on the left hand thats where I struggle most but other than that I can play. Any advice goin into the basketball camp. What yall think? Im goin to practice later today in a recreation center. Point Guard I can dribble but im jus a average left hand dribbler

  1. remember that aside from skill, the basketball camp would also want to know your personality. What position are you aiming for? looks like you're aiming for PG, you should learn to really improve on your left dribbling if that's the case. And in the camp, try to setup the players in scrimmages.
  2. good luck. dribbling skills are probably the first thing one should learn and master when first learning to play. practice, practice, practice. maybe learn some good drills you can do over and over :)
  3. When I first started playing the great sport of basketball (like 5 years ago), I couldn't dribble either. Both of my hands sucked. As I went on and on through the year, when i was just standing around with a basketball, i would dribble it for 5 minutes or so. Practise is the key to becoming more skillful at basketball, if you set aside a time to go to a solid surface and dribble for 10 mins or so a day, you'll be dribbling like a pro in no time. Hope this helps
  4. don't worry there will be a lot of other people that can't dribble well either and you will learn in basketball camp, also just practice a lot of dribbling
  5. Well not only should you practice dribbling with your left more but there are also some non dribbling drills to strengthen your ball handling. There are many sites out there with drills but mainly you can practice your dribbling by getting down on one knee and dribbling with you left hand. Being on your knee helps to keep your dribble low and in control by doing this you can also practice keeping your head up.
  6. If you want to go for point gaurd you have to not only practice alot. You might want to also do some scrimmages to make shure you can lead your team to victory.
