What would have to happen to have an NCAA sanctioned championship game in Division 1 College Football?

As of now, there has never been an official NCAA champion in D-1. There has been a Tostitos/Nokia/BCS trophy given to the #1 team in the past, but I notice an NCAA logo in the middle of the field for the Division 1-AA tournament finals, as well as all other sports like basketball. I have heard that the NCAA requires some kind of playoff to have a champion, and also that said playoff must factor in conference championships. Can anyone explain the rules?

  1. NCAA lets the BCS handle their crowning of a champion. Ii lets them reap the money without taking a stand on the issue. The onlu ones actually taking a stand are the conference committesss. One side or another. Also their's is the thought that it doesn't matter who is champion, it is STUDENT/athletes and they want to stay above it........and get paid
