basketball??
i'm starting to train for basketball, and i learned that the best type of running for it was sprinting. the best thing for me to do would be to sprint up and down a real court, but since i do not have daily access to one i am going to try my backyard out. my yard is about half the size of a court, so i figured that running it up and down once would equal one court length. will that help or will the fact that its not as long as the court affect it? the reason why i am asking this is b/c i know that by sprinting short distances, it helps your body differently than when you are jogging for endurance. so do you think that my yard will help me train even if it is half the distance of the court (as long as i run it twice to get the full length)?

- I think it will help you train because when you play basketball, it's not like you run the whole court during a game, unless your position is like at the end on each side. and, you can't really sprint when you're dribbling, unless your dribbling is super good
- I think it would be just as good running up and down your backyard. As long as you do it the right amount of times.
- Yes it will help but if you want to be more fit and balanced (running wise) run long distance also
- yes it will defiantly help as will running up and down a small flight of stairs that will get your heart rate up faster than just sprinting
- its good because it makes you change direction more often just make sure you run up and down in sets of maybe 5 or 6 each way (10 or 12 total)
- Well...it will help but dont you have a track somewhere around you??If you do go to that. But if you want to train for basketball shoot baskets instead. Get a basketball hoop in backyard or frontyard.Shoot like 100 baskets everyday.
