ok im havin a discussion of which is better in general with my roomates and they say hockey is better cause u can fight and hit and do all this stuff that is much harder and i agreed with it if ur pinning it up against the nba but college basketball is much better cause they play defense and games r exciting and they dont agree cause they think it is easy to just pick up a ball and play, they also said that more people generalize with basketball cause it is cheap to play and hockey is very exspensive with ice time and equipment....OK to u which is better hockey or college basketball i say college basketball call me when the nhl gets the ratings that march madness gets

I'll be in the minority and say hockey is better, it's like soccer on steroids and cocaine (well, drugs in general).
I'd love to play hackey, i'm from the Bay Area so ice and snow i have never seen. I'd go with Hockey.

I wonder why ESPN doesn't cover it much? I wonder why the NHL Finals no longer come on tv? Hockey: Canadian sport. College basketball: American sport. Basketball in general: Global sport.
Hockey is much more exciting to watch. With the checking and hitting and high speed slap shots. There are not enough players who can slam dunk to make college basketball that exciting. People only watch March Madness to see who wins the office pool. It's not a real sport unless you need to wear some sort of protective pads. Even baseball has batting helmets. In basketball you are lucky if you can get the guys to wear a jock strap.
In hockey, you're waiting for something to happen. In b-ball, the action is non-stop. It's what America is all about. In Canada, they like to wait for the action. That nails the difference right there.
College Basketball! It takes a real man to restrain himself after being hit. And it's just as fast paced if not more than Hockey. Basketball has more scoring, more defense and offense, and your right there on the action. No glass needed here.
What up CAL, i am a fan of both- but i'd have to agree with you that March Madness is one of the most exciting sporting events -- and i can't imagine myself getting that excited about hockey- unless my local team was in the Stanley Cup and even at that- the NCAA(s) just have so much more drama and passion. Especially because you have college kids who play their hearts out - because a lot of them won't make it pro. It's a tough argument because everyone has their personal preference -- and who knows maybe you can compromise and they watch some March Madness and you watch hockey- and they'll get caught up in the madness. I say College Basketball. Fighting? Frick, go watch some boxing then. I unfortunately find fighting in hockey really immature. In Basketball emotions are more shown and the excitement overwhelms the atmosphere. Now this is just from my point of view. I love Basketball. Basketball is more exciting with its high flying dunks, long distant shots. And the blocks and the emotions with all the calls and fouls. It's hard to skate and play hockey on the such cold ice. Its not just soo freaking easy to pick up a ball and throw it at the net trying to get it in. There are more things to learn and practice for basketball. The Hockey equipment may be expensive, but in basketball its something that everyone can play without soo much fundings into it.
I prefer college basketball because when I try to watch hockey I never end up seeing the puck.
NHL and hockey easily! more excitement, more physical, faster play, fights, goals. how can it get any better? if it wasn't for ESPN hockey probably would have higher ratings. hockey will always be the better sport in my eyes. sure I made a bracket, but I would watch a hockey game over march madness any day
colege basketball by far hocky is boring and takes to long they score what 3 goals a game boring basketball they are always scoring and u dont have to sit and watch and wait if i wanted to do that i wuld watch soccor sure i like the fights but i can just see them on epsn with out watchign the hole game so college basketballmarch madness is thebest go MSU
