What do NCAA basketball coaches say to each other when they shake hands immediately following each game?
In particular, I noticed Roy Williams ( UNC Tarheels coach) is usually very talkative. I know he's saying a lot more than "good game". What on earth is he saying to the other coach?
Public Comments
- sometimes they kind of swear at eachother and insult eachother...i remember my football coach would tell me to inuslt the other teams coach and say bad things...coaches do that a lot
- probably like hey that #30 on k-state you know michael beasley is whay better than my tyler hansbrough
- They say something like: "You have a great ,talented group of guys on your team. You and your team gave it all you had, but these things happen. Everybody loses. Just be proud how far you made it up to this point. Just keep your head up, don't get frustrated and you will do better next year. Thanks for a great game".
- Sort of like this, I think Seinfeld sums it up: "Jerry: Uh, here we go. The supervisor. You know what she's saying over there? Elaine: What? Jerry: Hey Marge, you see those two people over there? They think I'm talking to you, so you pretend like you're talking to me, okay now you start talking. Elaine: Oh, you mean like this? So it looks like I'm saying something but I'm not really saying anything at all? Jerry: Now you say something else and they won't yell at me 'cause they thought I was checking with you. Elaine: Okay, that's it. I think that's enough, see you later."
- who knows?? probably bragging. they do seem to win every game.
- I would guess...."Good Game" because its really very short and nowadays the coaches mostly respect each other and their teams.
- You have to remember these coaches know each other off the court and out of season. There are national coaches meetings and committees they are involved with. They don't make enemies like the fans do. They tend to be much more civil and keep the competitiveness on the court. Most coaches who are worth anything will compliment the opposing coach on the good points of their team. I've noticed Roy even stopping individual players to compliment them on their game. That's a sign of a good coach. Sometimes we forget this is a game with kids 18-23 years old playing. I guess all the money pouring into the sport ruins it as a collegiate sport. Even some Duke and Carolina players are on speaking terms! They play summer ball together.
- I think something like: "My guys are way more better than your guys. UCLA & UNC's guys are homos".
