Why do people give me dirty looks when i say i like Duke's basketball team?

i go to the university of kentucky; and everyone is a uk basketball fanboy or girl.....i really like duke and when i tell people that, they get all pissed, why is that?

1. they want their team to be the best and therefore have to put down anyone that doesn't agree

Edit: I lived in Kentucky for a few years and I can tell you that since the sixties these folks eat, drink and sleep basketball. It's a bit different than wearing a cheeze head in Dallas. Good luck anyway.

6. Ignore them. It's only because of the school you go to. It's almost like going to OSU and Saying you like Michigan. It's a simple rivalry.

8. That's the equivalent of throwing up them hook'em signs on the Oklahoma campus. or wearing a Yankee hat in Feinway park in Boston..
9. I live in Durham, NC (the home of Duke University) but I attended the University of Kentucky! Duke is a fine school, and Coach K has brought a good deal of enthusiasm and interest to this area because of his basketball program (although this year wasn't the year for any local teams...UNC just lost to Kansas this past weekend). But even here in Durham, sometimes the community's relationship with Duke is a bit strained. Understand this: those are family dynamics like you might find in any other family in America. At the end of the day, we're very much glad that they're there. So, like who you like...there's nothing wrong with that. That being said, I STILL have a strong fondness in my heart for those Wildcats! You can take the man out of Kentucky, but you can't take Kentucky out of the man. Have a great day.
