Why did College Basketball change the free throw lineup?

When a player steps to the free throw line in 2008 Men's College Basketball games. The players line up for the rebounds one spot farther away than they did last year. I have noticed this in all games. Why did they change this and when?

Public Comments

  1. last year, and because players are getting more and more athletic making it almost impossible to rebound from the up close position
  2. LAST YEAR the NCAA said the offensive team had a better chance of rebounding a miss shot instead of the defensive team.
  3. They changed this rule, because the college association thought it was getting too rough under the goal after a free throw. So now they move them up a spot... Also it gives the offensive players more room to work with, thus allowing them a fair chance to get an offensive board.
