  1. Pools are illegal but widespread...potential winnings average $846.49
  2. We had $10. Yahoo has a free site on which you can fill out the form and it figures out the winner - you have to use their point scheme but you know that going in. It took me all of 15 minutes. And the "lost worker productivity" argument is a sham. First of all, we all spend a lot more time on these boards than on March Madness. Second, a lot of us work jobs where there's a report due on Thursday and if you spend 15 minutes on a basketball pool, you just work 15 minutes later at night. The work still gets done - ultimately the only thing that's "lost" is sleep.
  3. we did about $15 a person, and it seemed to work good
  4. I have to agree with Truthsayer on the lost productivity thing. I'd just like to add that the Tournament banter and distraction is no greater than the usual office cooler talk. My wife's office literally has the "Jack Bauer Power Hour" every Tuesday where the loyalists discuss Monday's episode of 24. Even the bosses join in. When I deliver reports in my building, I hear conversations about 24, Lost, Desperate Housewives, and a myriad of other TV shows and sporting events. Sort of like Office Space, I'd bet most people actually do 2-4 hours of actual work a day at work.
