Has a 16 seed ever beat a 1 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament?
I want to know if a 16th seed has ever beat a no. 1 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament. It doesn't matter if it was a mens or womens game.

- No Never in the mens game
- As far as the mens tourny there has never been a #16 beat a #1. A #15 has beat a #2. In the womens I have no idea.

- A men's #16 seed has never won against a #1; that record is is now 92-0 for the top seed since the bracket went to 64 teams. However, Harvard did win as a #16 seed against a #1 seed on the women's side in 1998, beating the Stanford Cardinal 71-67.
- No but a #2 seed has beaten a # 5 seed just ask Jamal Tinsley what happened to his Iowa State team against Hampton. Its only happened 4 times though.
- not D1 mens.
- In the women's tournament, yes, but in the men's no. Harvard won in the womens tournment
- It has never happened in the men's tournament. There have been a handful of 15 seeds that beat a 2 seed in the first round, but a 16 seed has never won a first-round game against a 1 seed. I have no clue about the women's tournament (yawn...)
