Is the Philippine Basketball Association better now because of mass appeal?

- its about the same...the filipinos have always been big basketball fans
- I wouldn't say it is better, I'd say it's getting back to the way it was during the 70's and 80's when the fans were really into it. Fan support declined during the late 90's, because of different factors but now, I think the UAAP and NCAA TV coverage has also helped in building a fan base for future PBA stars. This is due to the fact that fans get to see and support a player earlier in his career and this continues up until he reaches the pro ranks. This makes for better continuity, for the fans especially, because they see the player develop. Rivalries in the college ranks also are brought to the PBA therefore making the games much more exciting. It is just like the trend in the US where the college players are famous before they even play in the NBA. For me, also, the PBA's talent level has risen overall but we have yet to see players that define a generation like Allan Caidic, Alvin Patrimonio, etc., yet I am very optimistic that it won't be long before we do.
