Fantasy Basketball: Eddy Curry, a good or bad pickup?
I just got Eddy Curry off of waivers. It says that he averages 20 points per game with 7 rebounds. But yahoo fantasy rates Curry as the 358th best player in the NBA, one of the worst. Why is that? My friend said that it was a bad pickup, I dont know why?

- I thought about asking this question but decided to waive him on my own (I picked him with my 12th pick and droped him for Bynum). The turnovers and low FT% and below average rebound numbers are why. Consider keeping him if you have just one player on your team who is a starting PG otherwise to many PGs mean to many TOs and Curry will kill you. Hard for me to give up that FG%, but I had to many PGs and other high TO guys and plenty of points elsewhere. He will be sharing space in the post this year and touches, that may reduce his TOs but will also reduce points and rebounds. He is not a shot blocker and that is just to much down side for most teams to swallow.
- bad he doesnt get enough hoops
- He's a good pick up because he is rated so low and the C position is thin. BTW...join my fantasy bball team. League name: MSU Fantasy Hoops, ID# is 69309 and if you need to put in a password its michiganstate . Peace
- Eddy Curry is definitely a guy that will score for you at a high FG% but that's about it. Even though he has great size he's not gonna give you the rebounds and block shots that you want from your starting center not no mention his horrible free throw percentage and the fact that he averages less then 1 assist per game. Finally the fact that he will be playing with Zach Randolph all his stats are going to be even lower this year. He's not a horrible backup in case of injuries to your main big guys.
- He dominated some games during the last season. It was like an outbreak season for him. However, if you trace back his stats from previous seasons, he wasn't doing very well. Anyhow, it is a risk as no one is sure if he'll ever be consistent like last season and the reason it's a bad pick because he is injured. Shoulder injury if not mistaken.
- Curry has a poor work ethic and too many of his points and rebounds might be taken away this season by Randolph and Balkman. He is also a big health risk with his heart condition. I agree with your friend. Drop him and get someone else, but don't get Greg Oden.
- It's a good pickup, you pulled him out of the waivers so im sure you didnt give up anyone to good. If you need the points and rebounds then hes a good guy to have maybe not as your main center but it wont hurt you to badly as long as you have a nice team around him.
- Curry has a tear in his right shoulder and will be re-evaluated on Friday.
