What is a RPI ranking?
Public Comments
- I believe it stands for ratings percentage index. Basically they combine strength of schedule, record, and key wins among other things. It is actually a very good indicator of how good a team is.
- It's a little bit complicated but there are three factors 1. Your winning percentage which is half of the number- this only accounts for Division I games 2. The strength of your opponents which is 25% of the number 3. The strength of schedule of your opponents opponents- another 25%- This is a factor meant more to account for non-conference schedules of your opponents.
- I'm actually pretty sure it's like this: your winning percentage * .25 + your opponents winning percentage * .50 + your opponents, opponents winning percentage * .25 = your RPI Here is the link for a detailed explanation: http://kenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/rpi_help/
