In college basketball, should they go to four quarters of ten minutes each?

I know they experimented with it in the preseason a few years ago and nothing came of it, but I was just curious what all of you would think of the idea of having NCAA college basketball games go from two 20-minute halfs to four 10-minute quarters? Would it improve the game or hinder it? Would it make much of a difference?

  1. Those college kids can handle the 20 min quarters not just that i think its more about the tv networks then the NCAA...but who knows I'm crazy so I dont know anything!!!
  2. They make enough money in sponsorship as it is, less breaks is better!
  3. I think they should stick to the 20 min. halfs. I like it the way they have it and if it was changed the time it takes for the game to finish would be longer. Some Tv shows would have to not be shown that night because of it.
  4. four quarters make a dollar
  5. i think they should , it would surely improve their games
  6. The 20-minute halves give college basketball way more spunk and if you were to give the NBA 20 - minute havles rather than quarters it would definetely increase viewers. College basketball is more fun to watch because it is continous. Its kind of like soccer in the rest of the world. Since the game doesnt have a lot of breaks there isnt much time for commerical and we dont have to channel surf sice there are few commericals. Now if there were 2 more intermissions there would be triple the commericals there are now. Now on the actual game's effects the games would probably be a more dramstic or closer score.During intermissions teams are able to adjust and try to find a plan. This would allow teams to stay close or make a bigger spread.Since it is continous its fun watching the players play and not the coaches because most of the play call and decisions go into the hands of the players and the coachs dont have the chance to make 3 million changes. The top players would also get more rest which may have a good or bad impact. If your main man is JJ Redickk hes going to adjsut his shooting and shoot more. Now when hes 0 of 20 for 3's its not that fun, but if JJ has to be taken out or has to try something different there might be more teamwork and thats what makes college basketball fun. The change may not seem big but if it occurs college basketball will be very different even though cutting halves doesnt sound big.
