In NCAA Basketball, why is the womens shot clock 30 seconds and men's 35?

Why is there a shorter shotclock for women?

  1. Cause Women's basketball is boring and needs to be sped up.
  2. because men are slow pokes!
  3. women can think quicker!
  4. BecoZ wemen is fAster tHAn Man iN ShoOTinG tHe ball
  5. Because the women don't have a 10 second backcourt violation like the men do. It kinda still forces the women to get the ball up the court quick because they have 5 less seconds, but they can hold it in the backcourt longer than 10 seconds if they wish.
  6. Men play more of an up and down game and rough defense, whereas women play more of a half court game and eliminating the 5 seconds puts a bit pressure to move the ball quickly and make the game fun and fast.
  7. Oh she got you good you got served dude!!
  8. all the womens awnsers were stupid
  9. I have never understood this and have wished they would move the mens shot clock to 30 seconds for many years now. It makes the game go faster and makes it more entertaining. I think it would be a good change. As to why it is that way, i have no idea.
  10. It is because the women's style game generally eats up plenty of time clock each and every possession and the game needed to be sped up. If there were a 45 second shot clock they would still use all of the time. The men's game hasn't had any adjustment to the time since the general pace of the game (except for old school Princeton style) is pretty good. I just watched Duke-Wisconsin and only once was there a shot clock violation and can't remember someone shooting with the clock winding down once. Watch a typical women's game and you will lose count because there are so many.
  11. To end the game as fast as possible, so they can move on to the men's game that usually follows.
