How Big is the NCAA Basketball Tournament in US?

Super Bowl is the biggest sport event in U.S. without any doubt , World Series is probably the second biggest, do you consider the tournament as one of the top 3 sport events in U.S.?

  1. Nah...you're talking about two different sports... Pro and College. NCAA appeals mostly to gamblers who bet on the brackets. Like this: http://teamrankings.com/ncbt/index.php
  2. Most definitely. I may actually go out on a limb and say it may even be bigger then the Super Bowl or the World Series. I know people who don't know squat about basketball filling out brackets like they're going out of style. The Super Bowl is great but I know a decent amount of people who aren't crazy about the NFL. And as far as baseball, people aren't exactly up on the sport since the strikes and steroid drama. But millions and millions of people get crazy in march watching the NCAA tournament. "A Chicago-based placement firm indicated that U.S. employers will lose at least $1.5 billion in productivity during the men's tournament. Even more than that, according to the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, as much as $750 million is wagered on the NCAA Tournament in illegal office pools each year." I don't see your average joe spending anything like that on the Super Bowl or the World Series.
  3. yea behind the World Series..it's all about that MARCH MADNESS cause those boyz play harder than the NBA..yes I just did say that...ha.
  4. World Series #2, yeah right The WS barely has higher ratings than the Stanley Cup, and that's saying something People skip work and School to watch the tourney it's number 2 Any big Bowl game is #3
  5. I wouldn't put it in the top 3 but I definitely put it in the top 5 that's for sure.
  6. This is bigger than the world series. People don't bet anywhere near as much on baseball as they used to.
  7. 1st Superbowl, 2nd MLB, 3rd Daytona 500, 4th NBA, 5th NCAA
