- For some conferences, if you win the conference tournament, you get an automatic bid. For some conferences, if you finish first and there's no conference tourney, then the team gets an automatic bid. All the other teams must win at-large bids from the NCAA Tourney committee.
- Either by getting an at large bid ( being voted in by the NCAA selection committee), or by getting an automatic bid ( by winning your conference tournament).
- First they add the winners of the conference champions and then they give add at-large bids to other teams for example today VMI is playing Winthrop right if VMI won the conference they automaticly go to the brackets but they could still give Winthrop an at-large bid according to their record and how far they went into their tornament
- The 30 Conference tournament winners and the Regular-sesason winner of the Ivy League (Because they don't hold a conference tournament) automaticlly advance. The remaning 34 spots go to at-large teams, chosen by the NCAA selection commitee. The At-Large spots normally go to the 6 major conferences, the Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, SEC Pac-10 and ACC. The Big Ten may get 6 teams, while the Horizon League gets 1, who would be thier conference tournament winner. However, Mid-major conferences sometimes get more than 1 bid.
