Who will be the NCAA national champions?

Now that the brackets are up for basketball, who do you think it will be and why?

Public Comments

  1. Indiana Hoosiers. The most balanced team in the tournament.
  2. I think that Nevada's got a good chance this year because this has been their best year in awhile.
  3. kansas
  4. Definatley Kansas, They have an all around sound team, that plays really good together.
  5. Florida will repeat. Horford and Noah are outstanding!
  6. georgetown hoyas are on a roll. they have a traditional dominant center and able supporting players...they just slaughtered pitt for the big east crown...they will be tough to beat
  7. According to SI.com, it will be UCLA. BTW, they picked UCLA to win it all in 1995, and we all know how that turned out.
  8. Either Florida or Kansas. I don't see UNC making it out of their region, especially if they run into Texas. Ohio State will probably make the Final Four and/or Championship, but I can't see them beating Kansas or Florida (especially a Florida team that beat them by 26 points). I think we'll see Florida and Kansas face off in the Final Four and whomever wins that matchup will win it all.
  9. I will just go through the top seeds 1's: Florida- They have the experience, but also struggled late, however they also did that last year and wound up winning it all. They are a good team but are either dominant or vulnerable. Herculean effort required to repeat and I dont see it happening. They will go deep but it will lose it to a team that gets hot lat the right time. Kansas- This team is coached by the chronic underachiever Bill Self who seems to fall on their face come tournament time. They are hot, but can also struggle at times on offense. They have a cupcake game in the first round, so they look to be a lock to get past that, but once the second round comes Jayhawk fans should start to get nervous because the clock may be ticking. North Carolina- Awesomely talented team, but they are way too young. They will go deep into the tournament at least to the sweet 16, but if they run up against a team like Georgetown it could spell their demise. If they manage to get to the elite 8 they are in a very good position and could easily win it all. Ohio St- I am not sold on the Big Ten, and I am wondering how in the world they got six teams including Purdue and Illinois who are clearly inferior to the Syracuses or Florida State and even some of the best mid majors like Drexel, Missouri state or Airforce that were snubbed. That being said Ohio St are the real deal and they will go very deep into this tournament. Anything other than a final four will be a tremendous letdown. 2's: Wisconsin- Wisconsin to me is the weakest of the number two seeds and the most vulnerable despite their undeservedly high AP ranking. I am predicting a major rude awakening for them in the second round, and I think they will be upset, however even if they manage to squak by they could have a hot team waiting for them like an Oregon and they will go down. Wisconsin will not make it to the elite 8. UCLA- In my mind they got robbed by not getting a 1 seed and they will be playing to prove that they should gotten one. They are going to be angry and focussed Bears and will storm their way into the final four at least. Georgetown- Looks like to me they are in a very favorable position. Their biggest threat looks to be Washington St, while the top half of their region has the harder task of beating each other up to get to the Hoya's. As long as Georgetown doesn't overlook Belmont I would be really surprised not to see them in the final four. Memphis- the quiet number two with a 22 game win streak that no one is giving any credit to because they play in the un flattering Conference USA which is below some of the mid majors. Still to ignore them is a mistake. They are a very good team with a very good coach and they are going to go deep before they fall to the likes of an Ohio St. The Outsiders: Nevada- The Wolfpack got hosed to me more than just about other team out there, and probably just beause they didnt make it to their conference championship game and are a mid major. A team that should have at worst gotten a 3-4 seek wound up getting hosed and straddled with an unbelievable 7 seed meening they will have to go through a very tough Creighton team and then very likely a number 2, 3 and then 1 to get to the final four. I just don't see it happening. If they do it will be a miracle. In my mind they are an extreme outside Shot though in my mind with a better seeding they should have been in the elite 8. The NCAA needs to set a direct policy as to where they stand on the weight of these conference championship games because it never seems to be even across the boards, especially where mid major teams are concerned. It is really a shame and shows how much money and power is what really drives the NCAA over the spirit of fairness and competition. For this reason alone I will be rooting for the Wolfpack to clean house in ther bracket to smack the NCAA in the face. Oregon- When Oregon is hot they are as explosive as any team in the nation. Well Oregon is hot right now and are in a good position with overrated Wisconsin and Florida who have the burden of repeating in their way. Oregon goes to the final four but then gets knocked off by UCLA. Texas- They have Kevin Durant, but unfortunatley they will most likely run into the Buzzsaw devense of USC in the second round. Get past this and I believe they can pose a threat to North Carolina's youngsters, however they must get by USC first. Texas A&M - To me they look to be sitting pretty, I don't see one game all the way up to the sweet 16 that will pose a huge threat to them. Then most likely they run into Memphis. However even though Memphis is the higher seed I think A&M would still be the favorites. Washington St- They have proven everyone wrong all year, but at some point you just have to wonder if they are really playing above their level, and the tournament is often a place where that can easily be exposed. However who am I to judge when they so clearly are doing something right. Pittsburgh- Although their record against the top 25 disturbs me for a 3 seed, the only thing standing in their way up to the sweet sixteen is a very overrated Duke team or a VCU team that looks to be playing cinderella and certainly has talent but comes from the CAA which had a poor bottom half. If Pitt can manage to get past them and somehow manage to upset a UCLA, then it becomes very interesting for them as the top half of ther bracket has them looking like they could be playing a team like Southern Illinois or Virgina Tech for a chance to go to the final four, since Kansas will most likely find a way to muck it up under their mr incompetence Bill Self. Southern Illinois- If the Saluki's play the stingy in your face defense they are known for they could have some very winnable matchups against someone like a VT or a Villanova possibly even upsetting HAHA poor old Kansas, then it would be on to a potential matchup with a Pitt which is a very winnable game for them. Of the mid majors they to me they look like they could be in the best position to make a George Mason eque run. However I don't think they are quite the team that Mason was and if they manage to take care of their buisiness to get to the later rounds they will most likely run into the Bruins who pretty much outclass them all around. So here it is the final Answer based on all this, Georgetown Hoyas to beat UCLA in the Finals.
  10. i go with kansas because of how they beat kevin durant and the texas longhorns
  11. Texas.
  12. Georgetown. No doubt. This may not be the best answer, but it will certainly be the correct one. :-)
  13. Hullabaloo Caneck Caneck. Get ready for the Aggies to be NCAA national basketball champions. Them or the Jayhawks. I hate the Jayhawks.
  14. Kansas Jayhawks!!! They have what it takes to beat every team in the nation, the new question is will they? As for Florida, we already beat them once, we could do it again!
  15. I would say UNC has a fairly good chance of winning if they can get around Texas, who I think would be able to go the rest of the way if they upset UNC. Georgetown is overrated, they are not as good as people believe. I don't think Ohio State will have what it takes to perform all the way through the tourney. I look for Louisville or Memphis to come out of the South. Florida doesn't have quite the same feel to me as they did last year, but I think they should come out of their region. The only teams I can see being a legitamate threat in the Midwest is Notre Dame or Wisconsin and I'm not too sure about either of those teams standing a being able to beat Florida. Kansas does NOT have an easy journey to the Championship with Pittsburg, UCLA, Va Tech and the ever-dangerous Duke in its road. My pick for national champions UNC or whoever survives the gauntlet of the West.
  16. Florida Gators and Ohio State. Both Teams have Great d and both can hit threes but it will be like the football game wit the gators winning it all.
  17. i personally thing that oregon will win it all because in the tourney its all about guard play and defense and no one in the field has better guard combos and play better defense than the ducks.... quack damn it!!
